Celebrating our 16th Wedding day in Bologna from 28-31 August 2015.
28 August: after arrival in our appartment we went for drinks (great white cold Italian wines) in our neighbourhood bar Gessetto, Via Guglielmo Oberdan. It still was smoking hot in Bologna (about 35 degrees Celcius) even at this time late in the evening.
We stayed at Residence Vita Studios & Apartaments, Via Marsala 47, Bologna, which was ok, although a bit warm, but this was because of the hot temperatures outside. We had to keep our airco running during the day.
the roof terrace of our appartment
Saturday, 29 August; exploring the city
graffiti next door
many corridors, which we used to stay out of the sun
Visiting the Basilica de San Giacomo Maggiore, one of the many churches in Bologna
Bologna city centre: great pizza's
Piazza del Nettuno
our first lunch with antipasto accompanied by the typical Bologna small round breads called Tigelle
lots of shops with great food in this street the Via degli Orefici
Piazza Maggiore
A visit to the San Petronius church
After getting to the appartment we showered and dressed for a posh dinner at a 1 star restaurant
Restorante Portici, celebrating our wedding day
(one day too early coz they were closed on Sunday)
Sunday 30 August
visiting the exhibition 'da Cimabue a Mirandi' at the Palazzo Fava Bologna
next stop: the piazza San Stefano
inside the Basilica di Santo Stefano
In the evening we went for a simple trattoria meal in our neighbourhood. After dinner we visited the piazza Maggiore by night with a great view on the San Petronius church, eating our ice creams and sipping our drinks.
views from the highest bell tower, which P. climbed early in the morning
Monday, 31 August: visiting the University area
bit of a graffiti mess and very old sloppy buildings
our last Italian lunch before leaving for the airport (wow what great food this city has)
the 'student' place near our home with a view on the 'busy' Libreria.
We would like to revisit Bologna but then in another season when the weather is less warm. We loved the food, the wine, the numerous art work, old churches, palazzo's and visit the museums we missed coz they were closed on Sunday.
