Pure C - 15 yrs, Bergen op Zoom & Brugge

We were married for 15 years on the 30th of August and celebrated in style in restaurant Pure C at Cadzand.

Friday, 29 August 2014:
Looong weekend to the far south of  Zeeuws Vlaanderen to celebrate our wedding anniversary.

Our first stop was Bergen op Zoom; we visited the 'Gevangenispoort'. Our guide was super enthousiastic and gave us lots of interesting info about the town, the 'Geuzen' and the place itself. He even showed us the cellar.

Afterwards we stumbled in the Markiezenhof over an exhibition of empty Marlboro packages and spoke to the artist. Interesting and FUN.

Artist Loek Schönbeck wanted to stir emotions with his exhibition in the Koetshuis of the Markiezenhof in Bergen op Zoom. Schönbeck shows a large number of empty Marlboro-packages he found in the streets.

Tante Blanche revisited

Saturday, 28 June: Zutphen/Brummen/Tante Blanche revisited:

exploring & shopping in Zutphen

Our second visit to restaurant 'Tante Blanche'; we had a really awesome 6 course dinner. All four of us loved it; great food, quality for money, kind service! We will return for sure!

guys having fun

Sunday 29 June; cultural Sunday

Coz rain was predicted we decided to visit the Kroller Muller museum, the sculpture garden and the special exhibition of Seurat.
We were lucky; no rain when walking the sculpture garden.

When we went inside the museum to have lunch it started to rain massively.
We saw the special Seurat exhibition and also explored the regular art works of Van Gogh and other impressionists, expressionists and more. Super!

Van Gogh

I almost bought this awesome shawl, specially made for the Seurat exhibition.

It was a lovely weekend with our friends F&G.

Pinksteren: Villa Copera revisited

1e Pinksterdag 8 juni 2014

Smullen.

Uitzicht 's ochtends vroeg vanuit onze hotelkamer

Berlin Underground - Day 4 (1 June)

Sunday, 1 June 2014
This morning after a lovely home made breakfast with healthy brown bread, fried eggs and fresh juice (from the stand in front of our appartment building) we cycled up north to do a 90 minutes tour (no 3) underground at 'Berliner Unterwelten'. We really loved it, very interesting and exciting. When you visit Berlin DO VISIT and descend underground and see the catacombs where a few thousand Berliner people should have gathered to maybe survive a nuclear attack during the cold war!
It was not allowed to take pics, so see their website.

waiting for the tour in the Humboldthain Volkspark;
soo many (great smelling) roses.

selfie ^^

yeah sunshine and ice cream after our underground experience

the enormous ice cream is Peters' of course

After the tour still in a sort of ambiguous mood we visited the Mauer Park, which was very impressive with tales and pictures, of people that fled from East to West Berlin.
In fact we were standing eggszackily on the spot where the Wall used to be. Afterwards, still in the same mood we visited the lovely nearby churchyard.

Friedhof der Sophien Kirchen

Families near Kollwitzstrasse in the small park.

Cycling the area and of course a necessary pittstop

This evening we had a lovely Japanese meal with good Sake wine at Hashi, a lovely Japanese restaurant in the Rosenthaler street, which is near our appartment. Afterwards we went to the Italian winebar for a good glass of
wine.

It was a lovely day and a great evening. Tomorrow evening we will fly back home, BUT ... still have almost a day to spend in Berlin ^^

We loved it here in Berlin; a great apartment where we feel at home, our 'own bikes', kind people, a relaxed atmosphere, lots of things to do.
We will revisit in the nearby future coz we truly like Berlin.
