Korea: Wheels, Noodles & Art (Day 8)

Wednesday, 20 May 2015:
Today we will leave Soeul and start our roundtrip.
After breakfast we went to the Avis office to fetch our rental car. It's a Kia K5, as far as we know not available in Europe. It's big, quiet and ugly, BUT most important it has an English speaking navigation system that warns us for all speed bumps, speed controls, sharp (mwah) curves, school zones, danger areas and more.
Having a car means freedom to go when and where we like, which we both appreciate a lot. Super to drive around.

First stop in the countryside. Admiring one of the many rice fields we pass and a pic of our Kia.

It's past lunch time and we are hungry. When we spot a place we assume is some sort of 'restaurant' we manage with the help of the translation in the Lonely Planet to order beer and noodles. And again instead of a knife we are handed a pair of scissors to cut the nudels if we wish.

Driving along we see signs that indicate there is a Museum and 'Art Stay' (appartments). Wow what a lovely place: in the middle of nowhere and completely zen. We decide to visit.

great plants and trees in front of the Museum of Art Leesangwon

great mirroring effect

This evening we will stay in the Chuncheon Tourist Hotel in Chuncheon. The manager Mr. Tony is very kind and helpfull. We noticed Mr. Tony is famous, coz he is also mentioned in the Lonely Planet guide ^-^.

Tomorrow we will drive through the mountains to Sokcho, which is situated at the Japanese sea and has a beach (yeah).
