Berlin Underground - Day 4 (1 June)

Sunday, 1 June 2014
This morning after a lovely home made breakfast with healthy brown bread, fried eggs and fresh juice (from the stand in front of our appartment building) we cycled up north to do a 90 minutes tour (no 3) underground at 'Berliner Unterwelten'. We really loved it, very interesting and exciting. When you visit Berlin DO VISIT and descend underground and see the catacombs where a few thousand Berliner people should have gathered to maybe survive a nuclear attack during the cold war!
It was not allowed to take pics, so see their website.

waiting for the tour in the Humboldthain Volkspark;
soo many (great smelling) roses.

selfie ^^

yeah sunshine and ice cream after our underground experience

the enormous ice cream is Peters' of course

After the tour still in a sort of ambiguous mood we visited the Mauer Park, which was very impressive with tales and pictures, of people that fled from East to West Berlin.
In fact we were standing eggszackily on the spot where the Wall used to be. Afterwards, still in the same mood we visited the lovely nearby churchyard.

Friedhof der Sophien Kirchen

Families near Kollwitzstrasse in the small park.

Cycling the area and of course a necessary pittstop

This evening we had a lovely Japanese meal with good Sake wine at Hashi, a lovely Japanese restaurant in the Rosenthaler street, which is near our appartment. Afterwards we went to the Italian winebar for a good glass of
wine.

It was a lovely day and a great evening. Tomorrow evening we will fly back home, BUT ... still have almost a day to spend in Berlin ^^

We loved it here in Berlin; a great apartment where we feel at home, our 'own bikes', kind people, a relaxed atmosphere, lots of things to do.
We will revisit in the nearby future coz we truly like Berlin.
dikke kus
