Canada 09 - visiting Whistler and moving on to Kamloops

Monday, 15th July
Today we go up the mountains with the several ski lifts/gondola's to Whistler Olympic Parc. We see many bikers fully dressed with protective clothing and a camera on their helmet. Phew very professional looking all.
It's cold up the mountain and we are glad we took our wind jackets.
The views are stunning and there is still lots of snow on the mountain tops.
We spot the furry marmots that gave Whistler it's name.

When watching the guys & girls at 7th Heaven doing all kind of dangerous jumps on skis and snowboards, I got stung by a horse fly although wearing a t-shirt and a sweater. Arghhh that hurts.

After returning at ground level where it is 28 degrees we go to the hotel garage to fetch our car. We have to drive 400 kilometers coz our next hotel is the Days Inn in Kamloops.

In the evening we eat a pizza, which we both don't like (too American). Oh well hope tomorrow food will be more tasty.

Canada 08: Leaving Vancouver island, driving to Whistler

Sunday, 14th July
Today we take the ferry again this time from Schwartz Bay near Victoria to sail toTsawwassen on the mainland. Lovely trip and great weather. It's getting warm here, as it is in Holland I read.
After our ferry trip we drove through Vancouver to the North in the direction of Whistler park. With a stop for lunch at the area South Main of Vancouver.

Before we drove into Whistler we stopped to see the Brandywine Falls.
At Whistler we live for one day in the AavaWhistler hotel, where we have a spacious room with a super bed and large bathroom.

What we saw from Whistler village walking to and from the restaurant was very touristic with mainly people in their twenties.

nice views of mountains covered with snow (scenic road 99)
